an essay by Joe Boudreault

One of the world’s fastest growing religions is Islam. This monotheistic belief system, began almost 1,400 years ago, claims to be a religion of peace because it follows the one true God. But upon close examination, that claim does not hold up. Islam bears not the mark of God but the mark of wayward man. Everywhere in the world where there is the scar of tension, persecution and war, there is the presence of Islam. While it is true that religions of every denomination and stripe have been the root cause of warfare and calamity down through the ages, the topic of focus in this case is that of Islam. If this appears to be another diatribe against Islam, I beg forgiveness. If your mind is set on the all-merciful and all-forgiving mind of God, then you will understand that it is fitting to love the person but hate the doctrine.

Every religious group within the agony of human history has made the claim of exclusivity and divine righteousness. Peace, love, and godliness, they all claim in their turn, come from their realm alone. The trouble with exclusive claims on the deity is that the one true God cannot be accommodating to them all and still be the one true God. As has been well stated elsewhere, all religions can conceivably be wrong but not all religions can be right. Islam is no exception, so is it wrong or right? Is it the only one to give peace and love and harmony, or just one of the many false claimants? A look at its history and practice versus its claims will demonstrate just how much of a false cult it is.

Islam came into being around 622 AD when an Arabian mystic now known to history as Muhammad brought forth a series of ‘revelations’ in which he claimed to be giving the world a set of doctrines from the very mouth of God himself. These were revealed to him, so he claimed, in a cave on Mount Hira outside Mecca, by way of the archangel Gabriel. Muhammad grew up in the Arabian city of Mecca and his monotheistic beliefs were at opposition to the pantheistic beliefs of the majority of Meccans. But he gained a following and as the giver of this new revelation he began a sort of warfare against the tribal beliefs of his country that eventually led to the establishment of what became the world of Islam. The spiritual battle cry of this religion was the shahada or Islamic declaration of faith: “There is no god but Allah; and Muhammad is his Prophet”. This very same Muhammad laid claim to some prophets of the past, such as Moses, Abraham and Jesus, but Muhammad’s lip service to these was quickly buried in the exclusivity of his own cause. These alleged revelations were eventually recorded and given to the world as the Qu’ran or Koran, the holy book of Islam. Thus the world’s third great monotheistic religion was born. But Muhammad, a prophet? That too is just not believable.

In consideration of whether or not Islam was a step forward or an improvement in world history and security is debatable still, but what is clear is that this religion has thrown more chaos and disruption into history than any other, with the possible exception of Roman Catholicism. If there is peace in Islam, it seems just about impossible to find it. A look at all of the trouble spots of the world reveals that in some form or another fundamentalist Islamic militancy is present. But then, the same is true of the entire history of this religion. And if there is a common basis or reason for it, that basis is in the very foundation or constitution of Islam itself, namely the Koran. While every religious group around has its quota of peace-loving and law-abiding citizens as well as its troublemakers, it is painfully apparent that Islam has more than its fair share of fanatics, and that these die-hard fundamentalists are bent on an agenda of total domination and exclusivity in every corner of the world. So if the foundation is rotten, the structure is no better.

The followers of Muhammad and Islam are Muslims, and they swear by the authenticity and purity of the Koran. This is their bible, the complete and inerrant word of their God. If that is what it is, one has to wonder why the inerrant God of the universe had to reveal Himself once more after the perfect revelations of the Bible itself, which predates the Koran by more than six centuries, and which declared itself complete. If the Koran is God-given it must be by definition without blemish and lie, and if followed faithfully, it would reflect the nature and character of God. Hence, the world surrounding that practice would be a world of harmony, love, order and peace. Such is not the case, however. Anything but peace surrounds the world and history of Islam. Either the Koran wasn’t followed correctly (as, to be fair, the Hebrew Bible often wasn’t) or the holy book of the Muslims is not perfect and is not from God. It is a sad fact that both scenarios are true. A system devised by man, not God, and practiced by men who were mostly corrupted, has given us the world of Islam as we now see it.

Looking at the Koran, for example, it is evident to any critical student of theology that this is something drafted by a man who was seeking a system of control over others and yet holding the veneer of divine providence. Whether by blind delusion or by subtle intent, Muhammad’s revelations as recorded in the Koran have all the trademarks of a very clumsy attempt to institute a theocracy in the name of God, but without the character of God as He had already revealed Himself to the Hebrews. It is with great caution and delicacy that we should disassemble and analyze any holy book, but if God is true to his nature (and He certainly is) then such dissection is not only proper but is welcome by our supreme God. The Koran is so full of discrepancies and errors that you have to wonder why Muslims would accept it as divine. Furthermore, you have to question why a person like Muhammad would have been motivated to discard the Judeo-Christian revelations of the Bible to create something like the Koran which adds no improved or new revelations to divine speech. Nothing in the Koran can be deemed better than that which the Bible had already given. In fact, much of this book is a testament to a god who is the invention of a stubborn and impetuous mind in rebellion not to the surrounding heresies of desert pantheism but to the purity of the true God already presented to the world. The God of the Hebrew bible had a track record and integrity beyond reproach. It claimed to be a complete revelation, that nothing more was needed. Yet history seems full of added revelations of divine nature; as if God had said “Oops! I blundered there, so I had better correct things by speaking again.” Muhammad was not the first and he would not be the last to try and improve on God.

In general, the first half of the Koran is of a tame nature, compelling believers to dedicate themselves to God and submit to His will. The latter parts reflect a severe and uncompromising punishment of misbehaviors and a complete lack of love from a God who, among other things, should be a compassionate and forgiving, though just, God. This falls in line with a prophet who is looking for converts and in not finding them in the numbers he desires, he flees for his life and subsequently vents his wrath on these infidels by way of cruel and unusual new revelations. When a prophet reveals the fallacies of human nature, the validity of divine nature should be questioned. The Koran cannot seem to get its divine facts straight. It attributes the composition of the Trinity to God, Jesus and Mary, and this same Mary is the sister of Moses. Science does not fare well in the Koran either. Man is created from clotted blood, the earth was created before heaven, then heaven was created before earth, the world is flat as a carpet and pinned down by mountains, the sky is limited, a godly day is a thousand years or fifty thousand years (take your pick), creation took two days or six days (your pick), the earth stands still and the sun sets into mud, stars are missiles against Satan, religious belief (in Islam) is not compulsory yet unbelievers who refuse the prophet’s commands are to be killed on sight. And let’s not forget that the Koran describes men as superior to women and instructs them to beat their wives for disobedience to their whims. These last two doctrines are foundation enough for a cult that promotes the harshest militant opposition to outsiders and the debasement of any but males within. Is this from the mind of God or from the mind of a delusional and revengeful seventh century renegade?

While most Muslims adamantly claim that the Koran is divine in its entirety, to question any part of it is blasphemy onto death. To interpret it wrongly is equally dangerous. There is at least one great stumbling stone to this fact, and it comes from the Muslim homeland itself. Islam claims its Koran is purest in the Arabic language and that only an Arabic interpretation is valid. Other languages, so they claim, do not convey its truths well enough to be relied upon. So in affect, the God of the universe is Arabic and can only render himself in Arabic, take it or leave it. This fact is more telling than you might think. For example, a translation or interpretation of the Bible, in any language on earth, including Arabic, renders the same God and the same characteristics and the same message, no matter what. Islam therefore claims its Koran is uncontestable. On the other hand, while most Christians and Jews acknowledge the divinity of the entire Bible, to question any part of it is actually encouraged by the Bible itself. The true God of the universe wants no doubters but makes gracious allowance for them to doubt and question. We will always question a religion because it’s part of the nature we were created with. “Worship me with your whole heart and with your whole soul, with your whole body and with your whole mind.” And one of those questions is: from whence is the claim of peace in Islam?

The word Islam, according to Muslims, means “submission to God”. Submission is the entire body and flavor of the religion. Deny all other false gods and cultures and desires and serve the God of Muhammad’s Koran. All that is fine if it were to pull disciples away from pantheism or paganism, but pull them to what? The God of Islam has no love or mercy, though this God pays lip service to them. When I read the Bible, my overwhelming impression is that it is the foretelling of a singular God who created us like Him, offers us paradise and eternity, asks us to believe and honor Him, forgives us when we disobey, and gives, free of charge, a way toward redemption and salvation. When I read the Koran, my overwhelming impression is that it is a command booklet for a male-dominance society, devoid of love or forgiveness or tolerance. If man wanted a subjecting system over all else, he could not go too far wrong in obeying the Koran. When it is further observed that the original meaning of the word Islam in ancient Arabic culture is that of male ego and propriety, then it is no surprise that such is what you get from a Koran given by Muhammad.

Tribal society before Muhammad’s time was better off in many senses than after his time. It had even learned the influence of fair and impartial law from the Romans, and certainly was not at odds with the rest of the world. Jews and Christians were present in Arabia to affect the offer of God’s deity as an alternative. Muhammad’s armies put an end to all of that. Recant all other religions but Islam or perish by the sword! Even the ‘God’ of the Koran had determined, by predestination, who would be allowed to believe and who wouldn’t, who would wield the sword and who would feel the sword. From that obscure cave outside Mecca, the military power, if not the spirituality, of Islam swept over the Arabian Peninsula and across Europe and Asia. Allah the Merciful was sparing no one. If peace is a definite sense of good standing with God, this new religion had missed the point.

Of course, the armies of the Prophet were not unique in the annals of international conquest. War in the name of religion is man’s direst trademark. But it follows that if the God of everything was to use armies of men to spread some ultimate and absolute peace and unity, then Truth would surely follow. Islam, in its militancy, certainly spread a lot of unity and even instilled some short-term peace, but it inspired no Truths. Was it possible that God was using the armed forces of these Muslims to propagate His new word? After all, He had exercised His sovereignty by using the armies of the Babylonians to enslave the disobedient Jews in the days of the prophet Daniel. Was the formation of Islam another rendering of God’s sovereignty? By any reckoning, there are too many discrepancies in Islam for it to be accounted as the righteous arm of God. A Koran that does not know the natural order of its world and that puts man over woman in equality is not a blueprint for God’s kingdom. At best, it is a pseudo-divinity that is tainted all around by man’s secular and vulgar desires. The fact of the matter is that history shows Muhammad as a devious brigand, an unreliable treaty maker, an unmerciful judge and leader, a pillager and a pedophile among many other things. Such accusations can bring the sentence of death in the Muslim world, but this treatise is written under the auspices of a more forgiving Christian worldview. Jesus himself suggested forgiveness for wrongfully accusing him of malfeasance, yet there is no such forgiveness in Islam. The pointing out of an error in Islam doxology brings swift condemnation from Islamic clerics and warlords. You have to wonder, then, where any semblance of peace, whether national, regional, or personal, could come from under such a system.

In ancient Israel, God’s biblical command was for the Jew to show hospitality to all foreigners and aliens who came amongst them, whether they were willing to believe in the God of Israel or not. Compassion, forgiveness and truth were the emblems of the God of the Bible. The Jewish nation, through Isaac, was to bless the world. This was one of the seeds of Abraham. Through another Abrahamic seed, the person of Ishmael, a greater nation was to come into being, and was promised blessings by God. Yet by another perverse twisting from the hand of Muhammad, the Muslims claim Ishmael, not Isaac, as their forefather and the true progenitor of God’s people. This is not a big leap for the Muslim when it is considered that in the Koran, Abraham is called a Muslim, not a Hebrew. Usurping God’s word and editing it into a lie does not a great nation make. There was nothing dishonorable in God’s promise to Ishmael and Hagar, and there was no dishonor in the formation of the pre-Muhammad Arabs or any other race. God was to make converts to Himself throughout all the world, and tolerance and grace were to prevail everywhere. But in the post-Muhammad world of Arabia, tolerance and grace went out the window. Converts were made at sword-point, and Allah’s mercy was a byword. Right into the twentieth century, Islam conquered by fiat of its armies, not by the truth of its doctrines. The modern nation of Saudi Arabia (Muhammad’s homeland) was founded by the same swordsmanship and wielded by the ruthless tribesman Abdul Aziz, the first modern Saudi king. Allah’s merciful purpose for peace sliced through all opposing tribes and districts. One of the most infamous Saudi citizens known to the world at large, Usama bin Laden, has laid the reasonable charge against the west that they are just the same Crusaders who violated the Muslim world a thousand years ago. He may be right, but he is only partially right. The Crusades were certainly not from the active hand of God, and certainly not taught or ordained by the Christ of the Bible. Perhaps Usama misunderstands who real Christians are just as westerners misunderstand who real Muslims are. Whether Crusader or Al Qaeda, there is no peace in either camp. But at least in the world of the Christian or the Jew, a Koran can be carried and taught and followed. In the Muslim world of Arabia, such is not the case – the possession of a Bible is forbidden. And while anyone can visit Jerusalem, none but a Muslim can visit Mecca. Is this the harmonious and peaceful world of the God of everyone?

Cults and religions all over the world claim exclusive domain. But there are further examples of how terrible the exclusiveness of Islam really is. The Koran has various edicts that encourage the Muslim believer to accost and destroy the infidel. Sura 9:29 encourages the faithful Muslim to fight the non-Muslim and to tax him into humiliation. That’s mild treatment when put alongside such instructions as Sura 9:5 in which they are to “slay the idolaters wherever ye find them”. And if jihad is professed to be a spiritual war, how can you explain the command in Sura 47:4 which says “When you meet the unbelievers in the Jihad strike off their heads….”? It is, I believe, totally reasonable to point out that in recent insurgencies in the Middle East, suicide bombers seek paradise by murdering innocent bystanders. And those bombers are frequently young adolescents. Where in any other cult or culture is such practice common? It is, said one commentator, the ultimate form of child abuse. Other Suras (or chapters) in the Koran have clearly demonized the Jew and the Christian and instructs the believer to seek and destroy them wherever and whenever they are found. Consider: “O believers, take not Jews and Christians as friends; they are friends of each other. Whoso of you makes them his friends is one of them. God guides not the people of the evildoers” (Surah 5:56). And further, “God fight them, what liars they are” (Surah 9:30). This is nothing less than terrorism by the Koranic God.

In this same Koran, Allah is described as having almost one hundred characteristics.  But among those, there is not one single mention of Allah loving mankind anywhere. With encouragement to military jihad and no love for others from such a god as that, you have to question where any peace could come from. In fourteen hundred years, how many lives have been deceived and destroyed by this harsh reality? No real believer crosses over to the Islamic world from the peace of Christ, for in love He will not let them go. But many Muslims have departed from the world of Islam in search of their peace elsewhere, because that world’s hate and persecution has forced them to go.

All around the universe of Islam there has always been warfare, disagreement, disillusion, assassination, murder, controversy and hypocrisy. The Muslim can claim the same has happened in the Christian universe at large. But that is a fake Christian world and even in such a pseudo-world at least treaties were made and kept, cultures were crossed, tolerance was practiced, and huge improvements were accomplished worldwide. There has never been enlightenment or a renaissance or neutrality of borders declared in the world of Islam; there has only been the crushing march of the conqueror. If man was created by the God of all things, a claim even the Muslim makes, then man is sacred and valuable in the eyes of God. A life, as the Jew says, is itself a universe. But when devils rule the heart, a life is just another commodity in a jihad. God not only created mankind in His own image (thus says the God of Abraham, the founder of the Muslim race) but He created woman as an equal to the man. This is a prime source of peace and contentment in the non-Muslim world. Not so in the world of Islam. A reward to the ever-dominant Muslim male martyr is a clutch of virgins in paradise forever. One has to wonder why such a God would demean women like that, and keep them as sexual slaves and virgins for eternity, to please a superior man. In the sickened heart of mankind, it is already seen that given everything the heart desires, except God, man and woman tire easily and have no lasting peace.

Allow me to propose an allegorical hypothesis to suggest the foundation of this cult known as Islam. Surely it will sound no more bizarre than that which Islam itself teaches as their foundation. I will base my hypothesis upon the classic supports common to both Judeo-Christianity and Islam. First, both systems teach the existence of one supreme God. That is well and acceptable. Follow that with a doctrine of heaven and hell, or paradise and hell. Include angels and divine revelations and the inerrant nature of God’s written Word. Now toss in the agreed doctrine of the waywardness or sinfulness of man. We have the basics of monotheism. If mankind believes in God because he was created by God, he must submit to Him, acknowledge Him, obey Him, and give Him both honor and due worship. So it must follow that mankind, in disobedience or infidelity to his Creator, would also have a false system of worship, which is really not a worship at all, but is a pseudo-religion of sorts. And if God is absolute (or He wouldn’t be God) then He would have one Truth, one religion that is beyond and above all other religions. God’s truth is absolute, remember, not relative, as the world would like us to believe.

The Hebrew Bible claims just this very thing. God is not the author of confusion (ie the creator of many variant religions to bring mankind to Him) but the revealer of but One Way. And within those scriptures of that Bible, God informs us that there was a brilliant and beautiful archangel named Lucifer. This highest of all the angels led a rebellion against God and was thrown down to a lower realm. He is now called Satan. Bear in mind that this belief in the Devil is common to the Jew, the Christian, and the Muslim alike. Also in world belief systems, there are variations of angels and demons everywhere and of the evil desires of mankind and of his carnal rebelliousness.

Now to get to the point of the argument, and Satan is central to it. Jesus called him the chief of liars, the great deceiver. The Hebrew Bible tells the reader that Satan goes to and fro, seeking to destroy the followers of God and His Christ. If he is cast down from heaven, he wants to bring as many down with him. It is the only victory he can score over God. And he does attain some big victories here. If deceit is the steering away from Truth, and blindness to truth is blindness to God, and blindness or deception before God is a loss of God, then this is serious stuff. And God’s Truth is that we are all sinful and deserving of eternal damnation and only in Christ can we obtain salvation or restoration back to God, because only in the person of Christ has the divine price been paid. Satan knows this. He can and does offer a different point of view, but it is a wrong view. He conceives and manipulates the multiple belief systems of the world. There are truths in them but there is enough deceit to steal the fire of Christ’s salvation. The religions and cults of the secular world are fine but they are for this world. Christ gears us up toward the next world, eternity. Satan allows any system under the sun to flourish so long as it blinds us to Christ.

So along comes the systems of man, and one of them is Islam. Supposing that men wanted something that gave them power, superiority, dominance and all with the flavor of religiosity. Something in God’s name and image but not really of God. Something like the Bible but not really that, but purportedly better, more update, more final. Well then, Moses and Elijah and Jesus were prophets, but what if there was another, greater prophet and he revealed the ultimate demand from God.

So, as has often happened in history, this man Muhammad sets about to make claims that an angel spoke to him and out of the very mouth of God comes another revelation. God is great, he is pure, he is merciful and he wants submission, says this prophet. Nothing new there, except that this prophet calls himself the greatest of God’s prophets, the Prophet. This system calls man superior to women because that way he can do as he wishes with women. In this system, white men will dominate, women are just chattel. It copies some of the edicts and morals of the older Hebrew bible and it names some of the names therein. But it sets apart a race of believers, of followers, that does not include the followers of the Hebrew bible. This is better. This is a new way from God. All others are infidels. If this system caters to and pleases the base instincts of man, it will draw followers. If it adds the doctrine of conversion by force, it will expand. If it allows for the killing of those who oppose, it will succeed marvelously for the most part. So Muhammad hallucinates and pontificates and spouts a new bible and adjusts here and expounds there and modifies an error and corrects a mistake and winds up with a feasible system of monotheism. A God, a law, a plan. Behold the Koran.

But…it isn’t from God, you see. God had already given the perfect law, the most absolute of plans. But rebellious, carnal man falls for the nonsense of Muhammad. Never mind that it was all said before, all taught in ages past, all prophesized and proven and practiced. Now here was a something you could sink your teeth into, wrap your women and neighbors around, and swing your sword with. The trouble was, there was nothing new. There was a jumbled mix of diatribe and oratory, and none of it was eloquent either. The science was bad, the naturalism was flaky, and there was no love. And there may be little doubt that this Muhammad was sincere and that he believed in what he was doing, so can we fault him for that? Well, yes, we can. He had the knowledge of the Hebrew scriptures, the wisdom of the ages. Try and improve on God’s system without His approval and you come up with heresy and calamity. But it attracted enough carnal men with their captive women, and it seemed to work because it raged across the continent and swept around the known civilized world, and it rages still.

In sympathy for it all, I must admit that I am just as fallible as the next poor believer-in-whatever and I have had my turns at falling for deceit. But I have a mind and so did those ancient Moslems and they took Satan’s bait and ran with it. Now the tragedy is that Islam not only destroyed the millions that adhered to it but as many or more who were sheared down by the doctrines of death. The sword of God’s Holy Spirit is two-edged, discerning between falsehood and truth, separating evil from good, offering judgment for heaven or hell. But the sword of Islam has but one awful edge and its edge is ruin. In seeking to destroy the universe of the Jew and the Christian, the fanatic elements of the world of Islam found a wonderful ally. It was a 19th century treatise called The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a booklet written for a czar of Russia with which to expurgate the Jews from that land. It worked to a certain extent, and it was quickly adopted by the Wahhabi movement in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, as a sort of constitution against the Jews. It is still believed by the fundamentalist Muslims of today, and is being acted upon by militant murderers like bin Laden. The problem is, the Protocols was pure propaganda, long ago denounced by its authors. But those wishing to sow evil against others will seize any seed.

Peace in the world can come from a correct understanding of who God is and what He desires from us. It goes without saying (but still needs the saying) that being right with God, and knowing it, is a peace beyond understanding. We are all created equally in His image and likeness, Jew, Christian, Muslim and all others. The image in that creation is that of the greatness of God himself, yet dependent on God for all sustenance. The likeness is in the realization that we are not exclusive to each other and we are morally responsible for all our fellow humans. Being right with God is being welcome on His level, and it is the sins of man that gets in the way of that righteousness. The world of Islam distorts that reality and thus it distorts that possibility of true peace. The ‘holy book’ of Islam claims to acknowledge the advent of Adam and Eve in God’s creation, but bypasses the equality of man and woman in that creation. It also pays lip service to Jesus as a prophet, but it chose to ignore the gospel message from Jesus that brings salvation and a “peace beyond understanding”.

When a religion is founded on a false foundation, which the Koran is, it is destined to err. When that foundation teaches intolerance and hate and war, it will wreak havoc with those founded on peace. Look at the world right now, and see for yourself where most of the terror of war and insurrection comes from, and where most of the humility and gentleness of peace comes from. The Allah of the Muslim does not rank with the God of Christianity because that god (Allah) cannot bring repentance and forgiveness and salvation on God’s terms, which are the only terms that count. So it is that Islam does not qualify as a monotheistic system because its god is a false god. Islam cannot even aspire to be a civilization because its culture is one that hates truth and justice for all. Most important of all, Islam does not and cannot provide a Savior.

Under the heavens created by God, cultures and cults in every corner and region have practiced a form of accommodation and compassion. There was tolerance in some form or another. In the empire of Islam, no such compromise is seen or intended. In all of the worlds under God’s sovereignty, there is at least a measure of freedom of thought and expression and plurality and history shows that such a measure springs from Biblically applied principles. But in the realm of Islam there is only oppression of thought apart from the Koran, because those principles are manmade and thus corrupted.

In all the varied nations in our world, there are wonderful and imaginative expressions on the flags of all the countries, in which the brightness of the stars above, the liveliness of animals, the fruitfulness of the earth, and the friendly identity of bars and circles and geometric emblems are paraded. But on the national flag of Saudi Arabia, the ‘sacred homeland’ of Islam, what do we see? We see the singular exclusive claim, or Shahadah, of a cult: أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله. (“There is no God but Allah; Mohammed is His Messenger”) written in a singularly exclusive language (Arabic). And we see, below this scripture, the image of the sword that pillaged its way across fourteen destructive centuries. Keep in mind that Al-llah, the pagan Moon God, was “Lord of the Ka’’aba” (cube). The Ka’’aba, a black cube in Mecca is the center of Islamic worship today. The crescent shape, which figures prominently in the Islamic religion, is the moon, partly occluded. “Peace! Peace!” cries mankind, but none is to be found in so many corners, and certainly not in that one.

AN AMERICAN AIRLINES PILOT SPEAKS HIS MIND

No name calling, no hatred, no political agenda.

CANADIAN COMMENT APPEARS AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE AND IS MEANINGFUL.

THERE IS ALSO SOME RECENTLY ADDED BRITISH COMMENT.

This pilot hit the nail right on the head in his open letter.

A newspaper stated that some Muslim doctor is saying we are profiling him because he has been checked three times while getting on an airplane. The following is a letter from a pilot. This well-spoken man, who is a pilot with American Airlines, says what is in his heart, beautifully.

YOU WORRY ME!

By Captain John Maniscalco, American Airlines Pilot

I’ve been trying to say this since 911, but you worry me. I wish you didn’t. I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your colour and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country. But you don’t blend in anymore. I notice you, and it worries me.

I notice you because I can’t help it anymore. People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don’t fully understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

On September 11, ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings, killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favourite coaches, fearless public servants, and children’s mothers.

The Palestinians celebrated, the Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So, I notice you now. I don’t want to be worried. I don’t want to be consumed by the same rage, hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists. But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.

How do I differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim Americans and the Arab/Muslim terrorists in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter MORE of the same good neighbours and children?

The events of September 11 changed the answer.. It is not MY responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.

I want to know, I DEMAND to know and I have a right to know, whether or not you love America ….. Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car? Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation; that He will protect it and let it prosper? Or do you pray that Allah will destroy it in one of your Jihads? Are you thankful for the freedom that this nation affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots who gave their lives for this country? Are you willing to preserve this freedom by also paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America?? If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about it

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions YOU are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America. Please, no more benign overtures of regret for the death of the innocent, because I worry about who you regard as innocent…. No more benign overtures of condemnation for the unprovoked attacks, because I worry about what is unprovoked to you. I am not interested in any more sympathy; I am interested only in action. What will you do for America – our great country – at this time of crisis, at this time of war?

I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting ‘Allah Bless America’. I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole.

The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize right now in Muslim communities. You know them. You know where they are. Hand them over to us, NOW! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action. Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals.

The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating. They seemed more concerned with making sure that the United States proves who was responsible before taking action. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with supporting our country and denouncing ‘leaders’ like Khadafi, Hussein, Farrakhan, and Arafat.

IF the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people, then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good, pure, and true, when your ‘leaders’ ARE teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance? It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if huge numbers of the world’s Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world. A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great United States of America, the country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.

We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us — our rights under the greatest constitution in the world. I want to know where every Arab Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to DEMAND it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very constitution that is protecting you and your family.

I am pleading with you to let me know. I want you here as my brother, my neighbour, my friend, as a fellow American…… But there can be no grey areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance, and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand. Until then, “YOU WORRY ME!”

CANADIAN COMMENTS:

I totally agree with this sentiment. I hope you will forget all about the ‘political correctness’ mandate we’ve had rammed down our throats, and see if this doesn’t ring true in your heart and mind. For Canada, with all the multiculturalism we’ve been told is so important….why should we not, as Canadians, expect that the millions of new people immigrating to our country will show their love for our country, their allegiance to our country, their willingness to obey the laws of our country, and acceptance that we are a Christian country? Just because they are able to enjoy exercising their own religion, they should NOT expect us to be ashamed of ours. They knew Canada was a Christian country when they came here. Why are we erasing Christianity because immigrants who are unwilling to adopt our way of life expect us to? There is just too much insanity in the world, and we have to start taking a stand.

I hope you will forward this, so that others will feel they are not alone if they are starting to feel the same.

BRITISH COMMENTS: At last a clear non-racist example of the concerns that the vast majority of our Nations population probably share. The pilot’s letter encapsulates all that is fair and just about national pride and protection of one’s national culture. I fear it may be too late here in UK, BUT we too want our country back in the form that attracted all these different cultures to come here in the first place!! In all our conversations with a wide range of friends and acquaintances we have not met one that disagrees with our own views. If only we all had the courage of our convictions to pass this on, it is a statement that should be accepted as the heart-felt feelings of someone with honest commendable national pride.

Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists to date have been Muslims. Stand up and be counted!

Australian Comment: Best email I have had in years it needs to be in every paper every day until we get some answers.
